From Racetrack to Lake
Mark Pizer grew up racing cars in Michigan, learning to troubleshoot on the fly. When he moved to Florida, a fishing trip revealed a simple safety problem: a disabled veteran could not climb into his boat.
The First Step
He built a makeshift step for the veteran, saying, “Man, I can build you a step to get on your boat.” The solution worked, and friends began asking for the same help.
Turning Skill into Ministry
What started as a hobby became a small business. Mark refined the design with a CAD technician, kept the product affordable, and eventually hired a team. He says the steps have saved people from falling into the water and have become a way to serve others.
Faith in the Outdoors
Mark notes that he feels closer to God on the lake than in a church, and that the outdoors is where he encounters God’s presence. He credits this sense of awe for keeping him grounded as his business grew.
Listeners can hear how everyday gifts—racing, welding, fishing—can be redirected into a ministry that helps people and reflects faith.
