In Touch with Charles Stanley — October 23, 2026

October 23, 2026

In this teaching, Dr. Charles Stanley invites listeners to explore the different ways God speaks to us. He outlines a progression that begins with the invitation to accept Jesus, moves through the ongoing work of sanctification, expands into the call to serve, and culminates in the inevitable moment of accountability before God.

When God First Calls Us

Dr. Stanley opens by describing the first call as a quiet, personal invitation to trust Jesus as Savior. He notes that this voice can come through a pastor, a book, a song, or a life event, and that it is the foundation for any relationship with God. The question he poses is whether listeners have ever felt that unmistakable nudge toward faith.

The Ongoing Work of Sanctification

After the initial invitation, God begins a lifelong process of shaping believers into Christ’s likeness. Stanley explains that sanctification is not a single act but a continual work of the Holy Spirit, described as “little by little, day by day, year by year.” He emphasizes that holiness means a growing desire to align our will with God’s, rather than a perfect, sin‑free life.

From Faith to Service

Once believers are saved and sanctified, God calls them to use the gifts He has given to serve others. Stanley references Scripture that portrays service as a natural outflow of a saved, sanctified life. He encourages listeners to identify their unique gifts—whether encouraging, teaching, or practical skills—and to consider how they can serve God in everyday acts of kindness and stewardship.

The Unavoidable Moment of Accountability

The final call is the inevitable day when each person will stand before God to give an account. Stanley cites Romans 14, where the judgment asks whether we trusted Jesus, lived a godly life, and served Him. He invites listeners to reflect on what they would say in that moment and to examine whether they are ready to answer “well done, good and faithful servant.”

By walking through these four calls, Dr. Stanley shows how each step builds on the previous one, inviting listeners to listen closely to God’s voice and to respond in a way that honors Him.
